I originally had a placement sorted with a software company called Vela a global company that has a firm situated in Belfast. I have a close family member who is employed by this company who gave me a lowdown of what the company is all about. However, once I learned more about this company, I discovered that this organisation would not be suitable in the type of career I wish to pursue in the future as I am not interested in fixing different companies / clients software for a living as I have a particular interest in the field of Web development.
I have emailed a number of different potential placement opportunities, however have had little to no success so far. Although I have one potential opportunity lined up, a family friend who works for a christian based web company who align their work with everything that is christian based. I have been in touch with one of their employers who attends my parents church. I will be speaking with her again shortly and she works for this local company in the field of web design, hopefully I will have a two week placement with her over the summer and she can help me in developing my web design skills.
