Animal Farm - Personal Pitch Documents
My chosen book for my Transmedia narrative was Animal Farm, this is the title of my completed project for my first submission 'The Outcast'. Now that we have chosen our groups, my group includes Robert Graham, Connor Power and Matty Eccles. Between the four of us we all chose the book Animal Farm, therefore this will make it easier to carry out our final project as we have all read the book. We also came up with similar re-adaptations, however chose Connor's project to pursue. In this post I will talk about my own individual narrative.
Titled 'The Outcast', the concept behind this was that I chose to focus my project on one particular character, this character is one of the pigs Snowball. As the story tells Snowball is forced out by a rival pig named Napoleon (hence why I titled my project 'The Outcast'), and in the book itself, the story of Snowball ends here and you don't hear of him at all again. Therefore, I decided to focus on the aftermath of Snowball and what he does next.
I am telling my story from the historical perspective, which focuses on the character's real life counter-parts. Snowball represents the historical figure who is known as Leon Trotsky, a Bolshevik and a man who believes in worldwide revolution. The character who he is forced out by Napoleon, is a representation of one of the most notorious and cruel worldwide leaders, Joseph Stalin. The two men clashed as they had very different opinions on ideology.
If my project was chosen for the group project that is carried out, then it would include the following, Snapchat, Instagram, Podcasts, Soundcloud, a Website & Posters. It would require the users to journey to various different locations (which would represent my narrative which is Snowball travelling to different farms and recruiting animals to rise up against Napoleon the dictator). I included a number of different locations in my narrative, with five correct locations, each correct location would reveal a podcast. With each podcast revealing what happened to that farm once Snowball visited it, some farms sided with him, some would not. My story concludes with the fifth and final podcast, when Snowball returns to Animal Farm with an army of fellow animals from the other farms who fight against Napoleon and kill him (re-telling Russian history in a fictional manor).
