In this post I will explain the concept I have come up with for my chosen book Animal Farm.
For my project proposal I have decided to pay particular attention on one specific character in the book, this being Snowball otherwise known as Leon Trotsky. I have decided to create my own narrative by focusing on the life of Trotsky, and what became of his life next after being removed from power in Animal Farm. To tell the story I have decided to do this in the form of a podcast, in which the hosts will focus on the context of the aftermath of Snowball, and what he done next in the theory of spreading revolution.
This concept will give my teenage audience another perspective on the story, educating them on the events taken place in communist Russia from the early 1900's. Taking into considering the narrative which is based on Trotsky will be true to an extent, however will be exaggerated to add that sense of appeal, although I will not stray too far away from the truth as I do wan't this to also benefit my audience.
I have decided to title my project 'The aftermath of Trotsky', I have decided upon this title as it explains it for itself. Snowball is forced out of Animal Farm and we do not see him feature at all again in both the movie and book, therefore I will be telling the story of what he done next after his expulsion from the Communist Party in 1927 and complete and total exile in 1929. Often for those who are learning about Soviet Russia in this era, once Trotsky is forced out by Stalin, the focus of course turns to Stalin and rightfully so. However, Trotsky's story afterwards is not really focused on, even though what he does next is actually very interesting, therefore this is why I have centred my concept around Trotsky, educating those in the 'aftermath'.
